Spring Bourbon Releases
2014 Spring Bourbon and whiskey Releases
Last fall we created a list of special or limited edition bourbon/whiskey releases. While most LE releases are done in the Fall there are still some great bourbons coming out this Spring (late Winter depending on your state) of 2014.
Booker’s 25th Anniversary – 10-11 years, 125-130 proof, $100 – Released across the country
Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel, NAS, 93 proof. $50-$60 (estimated, no official word on pricing yet.) – Released in Kentucky
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof – 12 year, 66.6 proof % alcohol, $45 (Some states may see a 4th release this Spring) – Released across the country
Four Roses Single Barrel Limited Edition – 11 year, OESF mash bill, $80-$100 – Bottled in Mid-May. Will probably hit stores in early June
Barrell Bourbon – 5 years, 121.6 proof, $70 – Released across the country
Jefferson’s Ocean Aged II – NAS, 90, $70 – Released across the country
Orphan Barrel Project – Diageo:
Old Blowhard 26 year old, 45.35%, $150 – Released in multiple states
Barterhouse 20 year old, 45.1%, $75 – Released across the country
“Rhetoric” 19 20 year old, 45%, $TBD – Projected release of Mid-June
Strongbox, 15 years
Blade & Bow NAS, 45%, $40

interesting, hope we see some of these at retailers in las vegas. btw thought Jefferson’s ocean was limited to 200 small casks. poor reviews redult in more product?
Possibly, I would still buy a bottle out of curiosity. Same as Buffalo Trace Experimental collection. They’re not all great bourbons but it’s still worth the $$% to see how different factors affect a bourbon
agreed!
I think I am most excited about the Booker’s and maybe the Four Roses. I do not know enough about the rest of the ones mentioned above.
Thank you for publishing the list and keep making great things happen,
Really looking forward to the Orphan Barrel Releases of the 20 and 26 year Stitzel-Weller Juice.
Curious to know what these were originally intended to be released. I read somewhere they are not of the wheat mashbill but rye.
What’s interesting is they always say “aged” or “found at the SW distillery. I don’t think it will be SW juice at all. Definitely not the wheated. That’s not to say that it won’t be excellent though
Super anxious to pick up the orphan barrels, as soon as they hit the NW
– Booker’s 25th
Incredible! Far better than regular Booker’s. Even @ $100, this gem has flown off the shelves. Read our review at http://www.thebourbonguys.com
Snatch it up anywhere you can!
– Jefferson’s Ocean II
The second Jefferson’s Ocean was new attempt at the idea. The original was completely aged at sea. This time, 7 & 8 yr old barrels were set to sea for 10 months. Much improved! Read The Bourbon Guys review of Jefferson’s Ocean (ver. 2) @

I wonder how many others agree with the bourbon guys that the booker 25th is not all that oaky and not particularly hot. I find their review bizarre in those those two respects because everywhere else, I read that it is too oaky (or at least extremely oaky and too hot/harsh/not-smooth-at-all)
I “might” have too much whiskey on the shelf right now, however, I’ll still break out the credit card for that Rhetoric if/when I can find it. I wish I knew the price. Also, if I finish off some more of my Four Roses by the time that Single Barrel Limited comes out, I might pick up a bottle of that too.
jans wines and boos in tampa has two bottles 813 962 8863
