2017 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection Announced

FRANKFORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, KY (Sept. 19, 2017) Whiskey lovers rejoice, Buffalo Trace Distillery is releasing its 2017 Antique Collection. The highly anticipated collection will once again feature five limited-release whiskeys of various ages, recipes and proofs. Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley notes, “The team had another great year with the Antique Collection.  From distillation, to barrel selection, to bottling, this year’s collection showed very well.  I was particularly excited about the William Larue Weller with its extra richness, and the Eagle Rare 17 seemed more rounded and full of flavor.  None of these disappointed.” read more

Provenance of Buffalo Trace Antique Collection

Occasionally, I find myself bored and digging through old archives of Straight Bourbon. These information hunts usually result in some interesting material. Today’s hunt was no exception. This information was posted by Bourbon writer, Chuck Cowdery. The post by Chuck is his response from, Buffalo Trace CEO, Mark Brown. Mark provides the origins of the first BTAC bottles. Welcome back to another year of Antique Collection reviews. With last year’s reviews, I climbed atop my soap box to talk about the discrepancies between LE review and everyday bourbon reviews. I plan on keeping this review focused on the whiskey (but I still think limited edition reviews are an issue).
